PUBLICATIONS

Los Angeles LAFCO has three main publications to aid citizens in understanding the LAFCO process.

  • For a more detailed understanding of LAFCO and the actual process of changing boundaries, the Senate Local Government Committee developed It's Time To Draw The Line (No. 872-S) as a citizen's guide for the LAFCO process. There is a nominal fee of $3.25 plus tax for each copy.

  • A unique contribution to California's local government are Special Districts. The most widely misunderstood form of local government and as such the publication What's So Special About Special Districts? (No. 583-S) covers topics from what a special district is and is not to funding sources for special districts. There is a nominal fee of $4.00 plus tax for each copy.

  • For a general overview of LAFCOs there is a brochure titled oddly enough, Local Agency Formation Commission. This brochure provides a brief history, along with objectives, authority, responsibilities and public involvement. You may obtain this brochure by contracting this office. There is no charge for this publication. This publication can be obtained from the Los Angeles Local Agency Formation Commission at the address below.
